Using Amazon’s CreateSpace as a DVD Duplicator

When we finally decided that releasing DVD’s of Changing Us would best be done by us, we were still left with the question of how to produce them. We spent several weeks looking at different solutions, most of which were local. In the end we decided on CreateSpace and I couldn’t be happier.

CreateSpace won our business for a couple reasons. One was that they are the cheapest. After the price of the discs, labels, and packaging, Amazon couldn’t be beat. Their price for a complete package was on par with other places price just to burn the discs.

The second reason is that we didn’t have to purchase a bulk order. With CreateSpace we can order one copy at a time if we want to, or we can order thousands. Other companies wanted bulk orders of 500 or more right upfront. That meant spending money we didn’t have. Not only that but Changing Us also gets listed on Amazons retail site. All we do is collect the royalties.

The third and final reason is that they looked good. Seriously. We had several different companies print DVD’s and by far the best looking ones come from CreateSpace. They come with barcodes included and shrink wrapped packaging. The prints quality is quite high as well. The only way you could et a better looking product is to go full replication and silkscreen prints.

So if you are looking for a way to make your own DVD’s for distribution, we at Drifter highly recommend CreateSpace.

Have experience with CreateSpace or have a different recommendation? Let us know in the comments.

I was looking at CreateSpace but was undecided. I’m going to give them a shot since you’ve had such a good experience.
